THE NEW ZEALAND STUD COMPANY.
From the remarks dropped by Mr J. Russell at yesterday’s meeting of the New Zealand Stud Company it is satisfactory to know that those who now control the valuable stud do nob intend to part with it at a sacrifice. The mooted idea of forming a company in Auckland to take over Sylvia Park, from what I hear, has not much chance of being realised. Local people havo so frequently mot with losses in 'the formation of companies of all kinds that they are now inclined to fight shy, and, added to this, we have an absence of local wealthy men enthusiastic enough to put their money in a company devoting itself to breeding the thoroughbred. There is reason to think, though, that with tho prestige already gained for the stud by the young stallioH Nordenfeldt, a company formed on sound lines would pay interest to the shareholders, and it would he a wise step to make an effort to introduce foreign capital into the concern. Probably this will be the aim of the liquidators.
