Auckland, May 10. Messrs Arthur and Buddle Report—Produce of all kinds in fair demand. Potatoes have come to hand from ail quarters far in excess of demand : prices have lowered considerably. Even with the reduction large quantities remain unsold ; at the earliest part of the week but few could be sold at any price. On Friday a large quantity was worked oIF. Onions move offfairly well, but no large orders. Cheese of good quality meets with fair demand. Fresh butter in good supply, a fair demand ; prices about the same. Good corned butter is wanted; inferior is a drug. Fresh eggs are much wanted; prices high. Good dairy-fed bacon and hamsjare in demand beyond the supply; but little honey to hand. Kumeras have brought a good price. Fruit: The snpply not so large as last week: first-class samples bring a good price. Flax: None to hand this wees. Poultry was in fair supply, but the demand was limited, therefore prices ruled low. Bucks brought a better average price than did fowls. No geese entered. Turkeys brought a fair price. Pigs were not entered in large numbers; a fair demand, prices were sa:isfactory : many were small and rough. Honey (Barrier) in bulk, 2id to 2:,’d; small tins, 3d; section, in bad order, ljd to 2Jd ; prime corned butter, small demand, at 6d to 7d, but unless the quality is very prime it is unsaleable. Oranges continue very plentiful, and selling at 4d to od per dozin: prime lemons have met with better demand, good quantity first-class sold at Is to Is 7d ; small, 4d to 7d ; tirsi-class cooking apples, 1J to ltd ; Reinette du Canada, ljd tolgd; Bismarcks, ljd to lid; Ohinonmri, lid to l:Jd; stone pippin, lid to 2d ; Adams’ Pcarmain, 2d ; Takapuna;ljd to 2£d; orthern Spy, lfd to 2d ; poor apples, 3d to Id ; Rome beauty, Simmons and Yates, packed for export, have been sold at 2kl: other orders to hand at lower prices could not he fulfilled owing to the lateness of the season; pears, winter nelis, 3d to 4d ; Napoleons. 2d to 2fd: damaged, ltd to 13d i quinces, 2.fd ; walnuts, 9d : almonds, 61 d ; passion fruit, 2.3 d to 3d; cocoanuts, in the husk, 4s 9d per 100; tomaioes. Ad to lfd ; desiscated cocoanut, 7Ad. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report as follows -.—Consequent on the wet, fodder has during the past week been selling at low prices, and with the exception of maize grain has brought lower values. Maize, 3s 4d ; wheat. 2s 6d; barley, 2s 9d and 2s lOd; oats. Is 7d to 2s, have been the pric.s obtained. At the horse sale on Friday, horses of a better class than usual were brought forward, and satisfactory prices obtained for them. Useful spring cart horses ranged from £9 to £l3; heavy draught, unbroken, ,tl9 to 1 14; hooded buggy. £24; waggons, £l3 and £l9 10s each. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday, ox hides ranged from 3d to 4£d: cow hides, lid to l£d the lb . sheepskins, 2s to 4s 6d each ; rough fat, ltd to lfd; wool, 6Jd to 7Ad the lb. At the Waiuku cattle sale, held on Saturday, there was a full muster of growing cattle ; prices were moderate, and ana a considerable number remained unsold. At Rernuera, on Thursday, dairy eattle were in better inquiry than last week. Prices for good cows at profit were from £3 10s to £5 10s each. Store cattle in forward condition wore in demand at full values; 2 and 3-year-old steers brought £3los; young cows brought 26s to 40s; aged cows. 10s to 2Gs each ; but growing cattle were no better worth; good yearling steers, at 20s; 18-montli-olds. 35s each; a full market of fat cattle kept last week’s values; steers, from 16s to 17s; cows, 12s to 14s the lOOlbs. Store sheep were in request, but few- offered: fg.t sheep lower about Is each, and would have fallen further but for the demand by the grazier; wethers were at 2Ad : ewes, 2d to lfd the lb. Pigs, numerous, were in fair inquiry. Fat calves, abundant, lower in price than for several weeks. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report.— Grain, seeds, horse feed, etc. - A better demand has existed, and increased quantities have been disposed of, but there has been no run on any special line. We quote : Outs, from Is lCd to 2s 2d per bushel; maize. 2s lid to 3s ; bran, £4 10s per ton ; chaff, £2 10s to £3 per ton. Horses: The demand has been steady and supply moderate. Prices did not alter materially. An average number were submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Almost all found purchasers. We quote: Hacks, at from £5 to £lO 10s; medium draught and light harness horses, from £5 10s to £l4 10s. There remained an unsatisfied demand. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, etc.: The supply at the Durham Yards on Tuesday was but a moderate one. There was an unsatisfied demand for heavy ox hides and prime sheepsKins. Other descriptions catalogued were in adequate supply and corresponding demand. We quote heavy ox hides. 4£d to 5d per lb : medium, 3d to 4d lb : slight and cows, lgd to 2Jd : calfskins, 2d to 4Ad ; sheepskins, 2s to 4s 4d each ; lambskins, 2s 2d to 4s 3d; pelts, 5d to ! s lOd: lambswool, 6£d per lb ; tallow, 16s to 18s 6d per cwt. Cattle: There has been a good supply of all descriptions and a corresponding demand without alteration in value. There was a good muster at both the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday and Papakura on Wednesday. A steady demand for all descriptions ha 3 existed at previous -week’s prices. Some averages of fat steers were :—£7, £6 17s 6d, £6 11s 6d, £6 10s, £6 2s, £6 Is 3d; cows. £4 ss, £3 16s. £3 2s 6d, £2 12s 6d. Sheep were penned on Tuesday at Newmarket in average numbers, and the bidding was brisk throughout the sale. There was no noteworthy alteration in value. Wethers sold from 11s 3d to 16s 9d ; mixed sexes. 10s to 12s 6d ; ewes. 9s 9d tolls 3d ; lambs, 8s to 11s6d. Pigs: Amoderate number yarded : suckers sold at from 4s 9d to 10s; porkers, 18s to 275; small baconers, £1 17s 6d. Messrs G. W. Binney & Sons’ Report.— On Tuesday we offered a good catalogue o hides, sheepskins, tallow, etc. Values remain firm for all descriptions of hides. Heavy stout, 4’d; heavy, up to 4d : medium, 2d to 24 t: cow, average lots, l|d to lid ; picked. 2d to 2fd; calfskins, up to 4Ad. Sheepskins 955 sold at very satisfactory figures ; green skins were in brisk demand, and sold from 3s 7d to 4s 2d each : country best, 3s to 3s 3d ; medium, 2s to 2s 9d ; lambs’. Is 6d to 3s : full wool, 5s 2d each. Tallow: Best, up to 18s per cwt, except some prime mutton in moulds, at. 255, but this cannot be token as value of ordinary tallow. Bones. 4s 6d to 4s Sdper cwt: shanks, 6s per cwt. Butter : Market still glutted. Potatoes: Supplies large, £3los per ton for Waikatos.
