LANDS FOR SETTLEMENT.
LARGE AREAS SURVEYED. Wellington, May 7. It is expected that the surveys will be sufficiently advanced bo enable 219,920 acres of land to be offered for sale before the 30th of June next, namely, 53,000 acres in Auckland, 20,500 in Taranaki, 12,800 in Hawke’s Bay, 50,900 in Wellington,l37,9lo in Marlborough, 5,300 in Nelson, 1,000 in Westland, and 18,420 in Otago. This estimate is independent of Canterbury returns, which have nob yet come in.
