THE PUHIPUHI RAILWAY.

Whangarei, May 7. A large representative meeting to urge the construction of the Puhipuhi railway was held last night. The speeches were of a decided character by leading men, showing the immediate necessity of the construction of line, which would open a vast wealth of minerals, timber, etc.,- proved to exist in that district. The line was also stated to be of vital importance to the colony. An influential committee was appointed to memorialise the Government on the question taking a political form.
