APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS.

Blenheim, May 7. The Education Board yesterday received a copy of the following resolution of a householders’ meeting at Blenheim. As the subject is a large one, consideration was deferred till next month : “ That this meeting is of opinion that the clauses of the Education Act, 1887, relating to the appointment of teachers, are vague in their wording and unsatisfactory in their effects, and that in consequence deadlocks between committees and boards are frequent, to the serious detriment of the cause of education.” The meeting requested the Chairman to transmit a copy of this to the Education Board for consideration, and for transmission to the Minister as well as to the member for the district.
