A PEEP INTO THE FUTURE.
Success on the turf unquestionably has its penalties a 3 well as its profits (writes “ Vigilant ” in the “ Sportsman ”), and the “ patrons ” of Hickenbotham's stable, who certainly seem somewhat annoyed at the publicity accorded Titan and Prince Consort, can hardly be astonished if, after Carbine’s wonderful record at Flemington and Rand wick, coupled with Titan’s phenomenal feats, backers make up their minds to stick to the stable for the big events of the spring. Some owners would feel flattered by such a demonstration of loyalty on the part of the public. Such disinterested devotion, after the “stable” and its
“ patrons ” have demonstrated their disapproval of outside investments, tends simply to show the implicit confidence the public (who, in the long run, are nob bad judges) place in all connected with Carbine, Titan, Prince Consort and company.
