TE AROHA PUBLIC CEMETERY TRUSTEES.
A meeting of the Trustees was held on Friday last at Mr Pavitt’a office, Te Aroha. Present : Messrs F. Pavitt (chairman), Dobson, Lipsev, Johnson. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Improvements : It was rosolved to have the Cemetery grounds cleared, ploughed, and sown down in grass. It was further decided to, if possible, hare a number of ornamental and shelter trees plantod, The Secretary stated he hod no doubt the local nurserymen would give contributions of trees for the purpose, when they knew such were required ; and remarked in the past they had very generously assisted by so doing. Alterati >n In SScale of Fees : It was resolved to alter Bye-law No. 2, relating to Graves ou Unpurchased Ground :This bye-law which hitherto read as under : “ (l) For digging grave aix feet deep : For children under twelvo, 7s ; adults (i,o, over twelve years of age), 10s. (2.) For dressing grave twice in six months after burial (if required) : Children 2s Gd ; adults, 2s 6d. (3) Warrant for recording burial : Children, Is ; adults, Is ” Will now read as follows : “ For digging grave six feet doop, and dressing same once ; For children under twelve, 15s Gd ; adults (i.e. over twelve years of age), 18s Gd.” Resolved, that the burial fee be made payable to the Secret try, bn application being made for tliegiavo. It Was further resolved to alter Byelaw No. 3. re Private Graves ; by reducing the fee for a single plot from LI 10s to LI 5s ; for double plot from L‘2 10s to L2 5s ; for three plots frqm L 3 10s to L 8 ss; for four plots from L 4 lOs to J,4 ss. Resqlvod that the alterations in the Bye-laws J;e publicly notified by advertisement in’ Hie Te Aroha & Ohinemuk{ News. Resolved thatthe Sexton be instructed to only dig giaves when authorised by the Secretary so to do. >'\ v It was stated that (owing to the great difficulty iu collecting the burial fees in some cases) this rule would have to be strictly enforced, making it imperative that the fees be paid in advance), With reference tq this matter the Secretary reported that he bad duly carried into effect the resolutiqq passed at a previous meeting, and seqt notices to all who \ye?e in arreas with the payment of bn?iaj The result, however, was hat what might have been expected, as qnly a very few had paid up so far. This was all the business.
