LAND PURCHASE BILL.
DISCUSSION IN COMMONS. London, April 30. The Hon. Mr Chamberlain says Mr Parnell’s proposals for the purchase of land in Ireland are workable concurrently with the Land Purchase Bill. He hoped the Government would undertake to establish Irish County Councils which would ultimately control the purchase of land in Ireland. Sir W. Harcourt opposed the Bill, and after he had spoken the debate was adjourned. A TRAITOR SHOT. Berlin, April 29. The Kaiser William has gone to Eisenach. A man named Schmit has been shot. It was ascertained that he had secretly divulged the scheme for mobilising in the event of war with Austria.
