WAHAROA BAND OF HOPE.

f From our own Correspondent.J A vbrt interesting and successful meeting of the Band of Hope was held at Waharoa on Saturday, 26th inst., at 7.30 p.m. From first to last the good feeling that prevailed never flagged, and all-departed to their homes well pleased with the programme placed before them. The Chairman, Rev T. A. Norrie, in bis opening address spoke principally upon tbe duty of taking a-stand on the side of temperance. Many willing helpers contributed to the entertainment of the evening. Recitations were given as follows : Little Maid, Miss Martha Hill ; God Made All, . Miss Dolly Finncrty ; Picoolla, Miss Emily Brown; Tale of War, Miss Lulu Brown ; The Bridge, Misses Mary Robinson, and Emily Latimer ; Romance of the Swan’s Nest, Miss Bessie Brown. Addresses were delivered by the Chairman qnd Mr Whitburn, Several songs were interpersed between tbe pieces and were well received, including a trio entitled The Violet, by Misses Bessie,Emily, and Lulu Brown ; When the Mist is Rolled Away, by Mr Whitburn ; and (I) Joe Perkins, and (2) My Mother, by Mr Bryant. The items on the programme were exceedingly well rendered, - and merited the hearty applause with which they were greeted; and a very enjoyable meeting was brought to a close by the Chairman pronouncing the benediction.
