CANADIAN INDEPENDENCE.
A league has been formed at Montreal bo bring about the independence of Canada by 1892. All the American powers are to be asked to exert their moral influence, and if needs be concerted action, to free the country from the last vestige of European rule on the continent. The league will have united with it all the Liberal clubs in the country. American universities are to be invited to co-operate as well as political bodies who have for their object the bringing about of the final triumph of democratic institutions throughout the world. The league will be under the control of a supreme council, whose actions will be kept sicret. This new departure, coming after the recent actions of Liberal clubs in declaring for indepen dence, causes mast co.unment here.
