Quarterly Meeting Upper Thames Wesleyan Circuit,
The quarterly official meeting of the Upper Thames Wesleyan Chcuit, was held on Monday last. The Rev S. Lnwry and six others were present, the Ohine* muri part of the circt.it being unrepresented. The ordinary income showed a great improvement on the preceding quarter ; and the Stewards reported that a considerable sum had been raised toward the circuit debt. It was thought, however, that when contributions were all to hand, there would still be a deficiency of nearly £SO. The Minister intimated that what was not raised by the time - he left, the circuit would be forgiven, as he had no intention of leaving a deficiency as a legacy to his successor. The SundaySchools were reported to be doing good work. The following Committee wait appointed to make local arrangements for the celebration of the Methodist Jubilee in New Zealand : Rev J. Law (Chairman), Messrs Iletherington (Treasurer), Hirst (Secretary), Buttle, Tetley, and Phillips. Sunday, June 29th, is to be set apart throughout the Colony as Jubilee Sunday, when all the adult members of the congregations will l-e asked to give, if possible, golden offerings to the Thanksgiving Fund. Sundry arrangements were made for the reception of the new Minister, who is to arrive on April 10*h. Mr H. Buttle, oil behalf of the Circuit, expresse 1 appreciation of the manner in which the Rev S. Lnwry had worked for the good of the Church, dining the past three years, and wished him success in his new circuit. It was decided to hold a communion service on the evening of East- r Tuesday, to which members of other churches should be invited.
