WAITOA ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Waitoa Road Board took place in the Nottingham Castle Hotel, Morrinsville, last Saturday. Present: Messrs W. P. Clieptfiell (in the chair), J. Horrell and J. Turnbull. Among the correspondence was a letter from the Ohinetnnri County Clerk, reporting that the Ohinemnri County Council will gladly co-operate with the Waitoa Road Buard, iu the matter of the road to the Piako Native Settlement, am!'that they have instructed the Foreman of Works to consult with the Board's Engineer, as soon as he can spare the time. The Board authorised the Engineer to I go to Paeroa and confer with the Ohine- I muri County Chaiiman, etc., in the I matter of the said road: I The Cleik was instructed to write to I the Commissioner of Crown Lands, and I adc if the right to tike land for a roadß t rough 3458; Mautiga'eparu, and! : through the Native Lands in the ncuthfl lowest corner of the Piako County, being! part of Block XIII, Waitoa Survejfl Digtrhrt has expired , ■

The Chairman was authorised (o appoint the surveyor to do the survey, ami he was also authorised to do all that is necessary to start the snrvey after the Engineer’s conference with the Ohitte>»muri County Council.

The Engineer reported that he had finished the survey-of the road-through the block of Crown Land from the To Mimi roa l, to join the Tauhae road, a distance of three miles. Tenders are-to be called for putting in a set of pipes ? forming about eighteenchains of swamp, and 'bridgirtg a" Maori, crossing on the Tauhae mad. " It v is reported that when said work is done, the road will be passable for driving sheep, etc., from Morrinsville to Taupiri. The following tenders were received for the contract on Te Mimi road : O. McCabe, Ll 9 19g ; P. Dillon, LlB ; M, Phelan (accepted), LlO 5s Gd. The Board requested the Collector to take immediate proceedings for the re* covery of all unpaid rates. Accounts arnounting to £6l 5s 2<l were passed for payment-.
