BERLIN LABOUR CONFERENCE.
Berlin, March 29. The Berlin Labour Conference has closed its stitings. It recommends the establishment of Courts of Arbitration, and periodical International Conferences to deal with the subject of labour. The Conference also recommends that there should be a weekly day of rest of all operatives, and Sunday is preferred as the day. In cases where continuous production is necessary this Conference considers that there should be a free Sunday every fortnight. The Intercolonial Wharf Labourers Conference has adopted the eight hours’ system, but left to the various colonies'to decide the hour of commencing work and that of knocking off. The question of a uniform rate of wages is postponed until next Conference.
