THE ACCIDENT FUND.
Thames, March 29. A copy of the following circular has been sent to the managers of the Saxon, Trenton, Cambria, Lone Hand and May Queen mines, by the Thames branch of the Amalgamated Miners’ Association of Australasia: — “ The Committee of the Thames Miners’ Union, being of opinion that the accident fund in connection with your mines is in a position unfair to the Union men employed in the mines, consider that the same should be abolished, as they have made provision in their rules for the relief of members in case of accident or death resulting therefrom. A sub-committee of the above are willing to meet you at any time to consider the matter, but failing such meeting taking place before April 3rd, no further contributions will be paid to that fund by members of this Association.” The mines above mentioned to whom this circular has been sent, are the only ones at the Thames in which it is compulsory on the miners working in them to contribute Is per week each to the New Zealand Accident Insurance Comply- _ _
