CARRIAGE OF CRUDE ORE.

Last week it was stated that the New South Wales Railway Commissioners approved of the same special scale being adopted on the western line as on the northern, in regard to the carriage of crude ore. The bylaw which governs this special rate is as. follows :—“ Low class crude ores forwarded in truck loads not exceeding six tops each from Stations in the New England district to either Itix’s Creek, Newcastle,or Sydney, at such times as the trucks would other wise run empty, will be charged :—3£d per truck per mile for lots of not less than 20 trucks per week ; 3d per truck per mile for every truck over 20 and up to. 80 trucks per week ; per truck for every truck over 30 per week from the same sender. The ordinary rate will be charged in the first instance, and a refund allowed on production of evidence that the conditions have been complied with,” Australian Mining Standard, February 26th.
