“AS OTHERS SEE US.”
In an article on Australian racing, “Hidalgo, ’? a well-known American, hints to breeders in the land of the stars and stripes that they should purchase Australian brood mares. He says:—
“My advice to every breeder with over two stallions would be to get some Australian mares, They are larger and have more bone. As to their wind, I can frankly say I never saw a roarer during my entire stay in the colonies. If I were selecting for a man like MrLorillardorMr Haggin I should buy two each by Chester, Goldsbrough, St. Albans, and Musket. If I could not get any of those, I should buy daughters of Malua and Martini-Henry. Then I should get one each by Precious Stone, Leolinus, Newminster, Trident. Swiveller, The Drummer, and Grand Flaneur.”
