EE-ARRANGEMENT OF ELECTORATES. TWENTY-ONE SEATS WIPED O U T, Auckland Loses Five Seats. NORTH ISLAND SEATS REDUCED BY NINE. SOUTH ISLAND LOSES TWELVE SEATS. Wellington, March 21. The “ Gazette” containing the new electoral boundaries has been published. It is understood that in the re-arrange-ment of the electoral districts, twelve disappear from the South Island and nine from the North, while the names of some others have been altered.
Amongst those erased are Ponsonby, Rodney, Coromandel, one of Franklyn, Waipa, Tauranga, Taranaki, Foxton, Manawatu, Woodville, Motueka, Kumera, Cheviot, Linwood, St. Albans, Sydenham, Akaroa, Rangitata, Gladstone, Waihemo, Dunstan, Waikaia, Hokonui, The Peninsula, and Caversham. The boundaries are gazetted to-day, but the maps will not be ready till next week. The new electoral boundaries are as follows :
Bay of Islands comprises the counties of Mangonui, Whangaroa, Hokianga, Bay of Islands and Hobson, together with that portion of Himurangi riding of the county of Whangarei, situated north-west of Wairua and Haimamaku River.
Maksden comprises the county of Otamatea, the ridings of Ngunguru, Manaia, Maunu, Mangapai and Waipu of the county of Whangarei, and that portion of the Hikurangi riding of the same county, situated east of Wairau and Kaimamaku Rivers, together with the ridings of Albert, Omata, and Matakana of the county of Rodney, and also a portion of the Tauhoa riding of the last-named county, which is bounded on the east by the Hoteo River, part of the Hoteo riding of the county of Rodney, which is bounded on the east and west respectively by the Hoteo and Waiwhiu Rivers. This district includes the island of Kawau and the islands adjacent thereto, and the town districts of Whangarei and Kamo.
Waitemata comprises the ridings of Mahurangi and Puhoi of the county of Rodney, and those portions of the ridings of Tauhoa and Hoteo of the same route which are situated south of the Hoteo River, and also the ridings of Helenaville, Wainui, Kaukaupapa, Birkenhead, Northcote and -Takapuna, of the county of Waitemata, and so much of the Waitakerei riding of the lattej county as is situate to the north east of the railway line, together with the boroughs of Devonport and Birkenhead. This electoral district includes the islands of the Great and Little Barrier, and Tiritiri and Helensville town districts.
Eden comprises the road districts of Point Chevalier, Mount Albert, Avondale, Mount Roskill, and Mount Eden all of the County of Eden, and that position of the Epsom Road District in the same county which is south of a line commencing at the south - we3t corner of allotment 40, of section 6, suburbs of Auckland, and proceeding northerly along the road fronting sections 40, 41, 42, 23 b, and 23 a, to the Epsom - Onehunga Road. Also part of the Eden Terrace Road district, bounded as follows: —On the north-west and north-east respectively by the New North Road, and the road along the south-west boundary of allotment 2e, of section 5, suburbs of Auckland, together with that portion of the county of Waitemata which is contained within the Waikomiti riding, and that portion of the Waitetara riding west of the railway line.
Newton comprises the borough of Newton, the Arch Hill Road District, in the county of Eden, and that portion of the Ponsonby Ward of the city of Auckland which is situate southwest of Ponsonby Road and Cur-ran-street, together with that portion of the Eden Terrace Road District north of New North Road, and of the road forming the south-west boundary of allotment 2c, of section 5, suburbs of Auckland. City of Auckland comprises the whole of the area included within the city boundaries, excepting that piece of the Ponsonby Ward to the southwest of Ponsonby Road and Curran-street from the junction of Franklin Road with the Ponsonby Road, as far as the Waitemata Harbour.
Parnell comprises the Boroughs of Parnell and Newmarket, and Remuera Road District of the County of Eden and the portion of the Epsom Road District of the same county which is north of the line commencing at the southwest corner of allotment 40 of section 6 suburbs of Auckland, and continuing northerly along the road fronting sections 40, 41, 42, 23b and 23a to the Epsom Onehunga Road, and also that part of One Tree Hill Road restrict north of Greenlane and its continuation to the Epsom-Onehunga Road. Auckland Domain is included within this electoral district.
Manukau. —Comprises the road district of Mount Wellington, Tamaki, and Panmure, of the county of Eden, the portion of One Tree Hill road district in the eamc county which is situated south of Green Lane, together with the ridings of Otahuhu and Howick of the county of Manukau and the borough of Onehunga. This electoral district includes also the islands of Rangitoto, Motutapu, Waiheke, Pounui, Tarataroa, Brown's, Chamberlain’s and Rakino, Bean Rock and adjacent islands. Franklin comprises the counties of Raglan, Kawhia, West Taupo, Waipa, and Waikato, excepting that portion of the last-named county, which is situated west of the road running northerly from the north - west corner of the borough of Cambridge (Victoria Road) to the parish of Tamahere. Tha Borough of Hamilton is included within the boundaries of this electoral district, as are also the town districts of Ngaruawahia, Te Awamutu, and Kihikihi.
Thames comprises the county of Coromandel 'and borough ot the Thames, that port ion of the Hastings riding of county of Thames situated west of the Waiwawa river and the Taitoko stream, arid to the immediate north of the borough, together with the Waiotahi riding of the county of Thames, and that part of Kauaeranga riding' west of Augustus-street, in the township of Shortland: ' ; 1 ' ' ’’ Te Aroha comprises the counties of Piako and Ohinemuri, together with the ridings of Tobara and Parawai, of the county Of Thames, and that' portion Of Hastings riding” of the last - named county ■ ' "which is situate east of Tai'toko stream and Waiwawa river and..
also a portion of the Kauaeranga riding, of the county of Thames, to the east of Augustus-street, in the township of Shortland, together with the Kaitoke and Tepuna ridings of the county of Tauranga ; that part of Waimapu River, and that part of the Cambridge riding' of .'the county of Waikato, east of Victoria Road. The Borough of Cambridge is included within the boundaries of this electoral district and also the Te Aroha town district.
East Coast comprises the counties of Rotorua, Whakatane, East Taupo, and the boroughs Gisborne and Tauranga, and also that part of thecounty of Tauranga contained within the boundaries of Maketu riding, and that part of the Waimapu riding east of the Tauranga • Rotorua Road, together with the whole of the county Cook, excepting the Arai Riding of that county. Motiti Island is within the boundaries of this electoral district, as is also Opotiki town district. The Electoral Commissioners notify that written objections to the new boundaries will be received up to April 21st. By an oversight the population of each district is not included in the first draft of the boundaries.
