WAIORONGOMAI.
(From our own Correspondent.) Ferguson Syndicate : I am given to understand that everything is now ready for n start, and the long expected rain is now all that is waited for. No doubt when a start is made it will be a permanent one, as the hoppers are full'of quar'z, also the
passes in the mine, and even the trucks on the line have been li I led, *o that every precaution has been taken with a view of keeping the plant continually going. At the battery everything has beea cleaned up and put in order.
Te Aroha S. and G. M. Co. : Messrs Jamieson and party are running 26 berdans on the Company’s tailings, with payable results.
Mr John Hawkins, who some time ago took on tribute, from Mr R. Mitchelson, the old Werahiko giound, sent to the Thames about two weeks ago one ton of ove, from which was obtained over ten ounces of gold. This was of course picked stone, the result of several months labour. The gold was worth over £3 an ounce. A portion of the old “F” claim (one man’s ground), has been taken up by Mr J. Darby. Small parcels of picked stone are occasionally met with, which is treated by pestal and mortar. The general dirt is carried up the hill to the tram, but as the leader is small, some time must elapse before a crushing can take place. On Sunday morning, I6th inst, Mr W- S Allen preached intheWaiorongomai Public Hall to a very attentive and fairly large cougregation. The worthy gentleman's discourse was listened to with rapt attention, and his pathetic description of death bed scenes, drew team from the eyes of many of those presont. At the conclusion of the service many expressed a wish that Mr Allen would visit them soon again.
