HENDERSON’S MILL RACES. Auckland, March 18. The annual race meeting of the Henderson’s Mill Turf Club yesterday attracted one of the largest crowds that have assembled on the country course. Throughout, the racing was of an excellent character, and in the majority of the races the favourites were defeated. Impey’s band discoursed the musical programme, and Air Blomfield worked the totalisators. The starter’s duties wore fairly performed by Mr J. Archibald, and Mr W. H. Fenton occupied the judge’s box. Appended are details of the day’s racing : Maiden Plate Han dicap, of 30sovs, second horse to receive ssovs out of stakes. For all horses that have not won an advertised race exceeding 30sovs. One mile. Mr W. Walters’ br c Ingorina, 3yrs. by Ingomar —Hipporina, 6st7lb (Golding) 1 Major George's ch f Fiesole, 3yrs, 6st 101 b (Priest) ... -■• 2 Mr J. H. Parker’s br c Stamford, 3yrs, 6st (Cooke) ... ••• ••• 3 Barber (6st 71b), Te Kooti (6st 71b), and Possum also ran. Fiesole was a warm favourite on the totalisator. Ingorina was first away, and made his own running, and after a desperate set-to down the straight with Fiesole, secured the verdict by half a length. Time, 1.47. Dividend, £7 Is. Hopeful Kate went to the front when the flag fell, and taking the obstacles in good style throughout, had no difficulty in winning by a couple of lengths from Larrikin, with the favourite Parnell a fair third. Leorina (Bst 131 b, Fletcher) and Tamora 7st 81b, Priest) also ran. Leorina was the favourite, Montrose being next fancied. The flag dipped to a fair start. Tamora was quickest in her stride, but soon afterwards Dolosa took up the running, Montrose, Cartridge, and Leorina following in that order. Dolosa continued to make the pace past the stand and around the far side of the course, Montrose being close handy. Half-way across the bottom turn, Cartridge made her effort, and drew le"el with Dolosa, but half-way down the straight Cartridge was in front, and, being full of running, ran home a halflength winner. Montrose, who unmistakably “ cut it,” finished third, two lengths behind Dolosa, Leorina being fourth and Tamora last. Time, 2.17. Dividend, £6 11s.
