SYDNEY GOLD CUP WEIGHTS.

Mr Scarr has framed a very Mattering handicap for the Sydney Gold Cup, which I think greatly favours the top division. According to the New Sou th Wales weigh t adjuster, Abercorn is a 51b better horse than Carbine over a two-mile course, which the great majority will doubt. Abercorn will be a non-acceptor, but no doubt Carbine will be among those who cry content, and with 9st9lb in the saddle he must have a great chance. Last year he won with 9st, and ran the distance in 3.31, which is excellent time for the Randwick course. Melos also reads very well with 9st 51b, after his running in the Australian Cup and Champion Stakes, and Dreadnought; has not received a pound too little, but it may bo Singapore will be the elect of the stable, for he is nicely handicapped at Bst 2!b. Cuirassier is well “ flattered ” with Bst- 91b opposite his name, but if among the field will the Ivohimarama horse have the condition of the three above him—Dreadnought, Melos and Carbine ? Leopold could scarcely have received less than 7st 111 b, but I don't fancy him at tho weight. I have a great affection for Scots Grey (7st 75b) and Ellerdale (7sb 41b), the winner of the last Ilawkesbury Spring Handicap. As I stated above, the handicap is in favour of the top division, and the winner, 1 think, will come from ©ne of those I have mentioned in this paragraph.
