NEW ALBURNIA MINE.

GOOD HAULS OF SPECIMENS

Quite a sensation has been created on the Exchange during the past week by the quantity of specimens and picked stone obtained in the New Alburnia mine. A little while ago shares were quoted at from two to three shillings, and the market closed to-day with buyers at 8s 3d and no sellers at that figure, yesterday we published a telegram stating that 301 b of specimens and 101 b of picked stone had bean obtained from the footwall. This had the effect of raising shares to 8s 6d. Towards evening the market fell to 8s 3d, but another telegram was received after wo went to press stating that another 201 b of specimens and 101 b picked stone had been taken out. Shares again advanced to 8s 6d, and one parcel changed hands at 8s 9d. This morning the market opened at 8s sellers, but about 10 o'clock another telegram arrived stating: “Got 201 b of specimens and 101 b of picked stone, with gold showing in back of stope and in footwall vein.” This, of course, caused another rise, and shortly before the market closed 8s 3d was offered for 500 shares, but none were to be had at that price. In addition to this there was also a standing off r for 1.000 at 7s 6d. This shows that holders are confident as to the soundness of the mine. Apparently some are suspicious, as the mine manager telegraphed later on :—“False reports are circulated that we have touched old ground. Tho reef never looked so much like permanency as now.”
