MINING NEWS.
Thames, March 14. New Albuknia. —Lately the mine manager has been engaged stoping and stripping some footwall veins with very favourable results. The quantity on hand, as far as the present month is gone, is 1001 b specimens of very fair quality and 701 b picked stone. A very fair show of gold can be seen in the stopes, there being four distinct veins of quartz, all of which show gold and yield specimens and picked stone. A good return at the end of the month is expected. May Queen. —The mine manager wired to-day :—“ Cut slide in drive on No. 4 lode cast; got No. 4 lode on eastern side of slide.”
New A (.hernia.— No breaking down of the reef took place yesterday, the manager being engaged stripping it preparatory to shooting it down, which will probably take p'ace to-day. Dives.— The crushing for this Company concluded at the Cambria battery to-day ; 45 loads quartz and 421 b picked stone treated for the excellent return of Ssoz retorted gold. New Moanataiari. —2olb of picked stone were obtained in the western drive from the winze on the Reuben Pair reef. Kimberley Special Claim. lb is reported on good authority that the Kimber ley special claim has been floated in Sydney into a company under the name Bright Smile Goldmir.ing Company. Thames, March 15.
Occidental.—A crushing of 1601 b specimens to-day produced a capital return of 1690 z of gold. New Moanataiari. —The mine manager wires: “Ten pounds picked stone from Reuben Parr reef, western drive, below Point Russell level.”
May Queen. —Colours of gold were today seen in No. 4 reef, which is 5 inches thick on the eastern or hillward side of the slide.
