Sydney, this day. The Auckland three-masted schooner Rio, which arrived here to-day from Napier, had a remarkably narrow escape from destruction. When near Montague Island, which is situated a short distance off the coast of New South Wales, the, Rio was caught in an extraordinary tide rip, She was carried towards the reef, and placed in imminent danger of becoming a total wreck.
