COLONIAL FEDERATION.
CAPTAIN RUSSELL’S STATEMENTS. A REPROOF FROM AUSTRALIA. Sydney, this day. The “ Sydney Morning Herald ” condemns Captain Russell’s utterances on federation after his return to New Zealand. They were such, the “Hera’d ” says, as should not have escaped the lips of a statesman. Sir John Hall, in the opinion of the “Herald,” more "'correctly described the position of affairs. The “ Herald ” also deals at considerable length with the arguments used against New Zealand joining the Federation.
