Te Aroha S. and G. Mining Company.

Departure of Mr W. Adams.

On Saturday last Mr W. Adams, junr., who has filled the position of actingmanager for the Te Aroha S. anil G. Mining Company since Mr John Howell, the Company’s late manager (now in charge of the Broken Hill Proprietary Company’s mine during the absence of Mr Patton) showed us a telegram he ha-1 received,'notifying him of his appoint - ment to the important position of manager of the Junction Broken Hill mine ; for which position he recently made application. The appointment is an excellent one for Mr Adams, and carries with it a high salary, far more in fact than Mr Adams could ever expect to receive as manager at Waiorongomai for the Te AroJ»a S. and G. Mining Company, even were the Company’s mines fully manned. Were other things equal Mr Adams would prefer living in New Zealand, being very favourably impressed therewith, and speaks in high terms of its splendid climate, etc. His departure from here will be regretted, and a loss to the district, ho having had great experience in mining generally in America and elsewhere, Mr Poage, late Ass'yer to the Te Aroha S. and G. Mining Company, is also now in tinemploy of the Junction Broken Hill Company. Mr Adams (accompanied by Mrs Adams and two children, who recently arrived from San Francisco) leave Te Aroha for Auckland, by this morning’s train, en route for Sydney ; for which port they sail by the Union Company’s boat. Te Anau, which is timed to leave Auckland at five o’clock this evening. Mr Napier, the Company’s A ssayist. has been placed in charge of the Te Aroha S. and G. Mining Company’s property for the present.
