Mining News.

WAIORONGOMAI. Ferguson Syndicate : The prospects in connection with this property improve daily as work progresses ; and are very satisfactory. Good gold is being oblained in the niw workings on the main reef in the Premier ground, where sinking and rising is in progress on the main reef, some 200 feet north from the eastern drive ; and the ore coming to grass is of good quality. It is intended in the course of a few days to take out a number of trial lots from a large body of ore in the eastern drive, in order to determine the geneial average value of the reef ; and a contract will shortly be let to drive 200 feet north and connect with the winze now in progress (already referred to). The quartz is free milling, with coarse gold disseminated through the reef. The mill is ready for the treatment of free milling ore, and the Lnmberton Mill is found °to work very satisfactorily. Great scarcity of water for motive power, etc., is experienced just now, owing to the long continued spell of dry weather. There can be no doubt whatever that the find of such good gold in these entirely new workings, is a most valuable discovery.
