Horses: There has been much vitality in the market; an increased number have changed hands, and there was an upward tendenev in value for those of a. good stamp of all descriptions. There was a good many submitted bv auction at the Durham Y ards on Tiidav. Competition was steady throughout, and most of the lots were cleared at the expectations of the vendors. Large quantities were pitched at the Durham Yaids on Tuesday, and there was brisk demand. Cattle: The supply has been an average one. and the demand steady, with little or no alteration in value. There was a moderate muster of all descriptions at Newmarket on Tuesdav, but the Pukekohe Yards on Wednesday were well filled. There was an upward tendency in value for dairy cows, while stores and fat beasts maintained the previous week s values. We quote: Steer calves, from 10s to 17s 6d each : yearlings, 18s to 22s 6d ; 18 months to 2 vears old. £1 to £1 15s ; grown steers, from £2 10s to £3 15s; dairy cows, from £3 5s to £5 10s ; drv cows, £1 to £llss ; beet, ox, 14s to 163 per 1001 b ; cows, 12s to Its. Sheep: No stores were yarded at. Newmarket on Tuesday, and there was barely an average number of fat, ones. In consequence of the dry weather the trade only purchased for actual requirements at the previotts week’s values, but those weie sustained. Wethers sold at from 9s 3d to 13s ; ewes, from 6s to 12s 6d; lambs. 7s 9d to 9s 9d each. Pigs: But a limited number were yarded, but the demand was brisk for good porkers, at from od to 3£d per : lb live weight.

The catalogue included 500 dry shearlings, which sold from 6d to lOd each. Wool: 1 ambs’, 7d to 7 d: crossbred, 7d to 7/d per lb. Tallow : 17e to 18s 6d per cwt: rough, lid per lb. Bones, 4s 6d per cwt; shanks, 5s per cwt. Messrs Arthur and Buddle’s Weekly Report.—There have been ten sales by auction this week. The whole have been well attended, and at each a large business was done at very satisfactory priees. Potatoes still continued to come to hand in excess of demand, no improvement in priees. could not clear out all brought forward on Friday. Onions : A supply beyond demand, prices about the same as last week. Vegetables: The supply is dropping oil'. Cheese in good supply, not so large demand. Butter: Fresh less in quantity, the weather was too hot for it- good priees were obtained. Salt is still a drug. Bacon of good quality is wanted. Eggs were wauted. Fruit ot all kinds has come to hand in very large quantities. All soft kinds and dessert pears have sold well. Apples have ruled low. Poultry: Not so large number of fowls entered. There were no first-class lots, therefore no high prices were obtained, but the average, was better than for some weeks past. A fair nuniber of ducks and geese entered.
