MASONIC GRAND LODGE.

Dunedin,' February 1, The meeting of Grand Masters (Masonic) here this week resulted from an understanding with the Central Executive of the Masonic Union to postpone forthree months, calling a first meeting of the New Zealand Grand Lodge which has been formed by declaration of the convention held in Wellingtonon thellth of September last, with a view to obtaining greater unanimity. , It was considered that as the great majority of Masonic Lodges, also it is contended a majority of Masons, throughout the colony, had declared in favour of the Grand Lodge movement, the - masters of the various lodges would take the necessary steps _to bring about the''union. The resolution passed by the meeting at Dunedin, however, amounts, to an indefinite postponement, > and' as it is considered to hold out no hope of the attainment of greater unanimity, I understand it has been determined by the Masonic Union to proceed to give effect to the resolution of the Masonic Convention, and to convene a first meeting of the Grand Lodge as soon after the 9th of February next as practicable. The Masons throughout the colony are understood to,be prepared;fo take the consequences of tbis step, feeling thfit they have done all they could to bring about unanimity on the question. During the meeting here, opinions were exchanged by telegraph, and.it has definitely been decided toproceed with the institution of a Grand'Lodge for New Zealand.
