Thames, Jan 22. Mining matters have been rather quiet during tho last few days, nothing of importance having occuned in any of the mines. Norfolk. —Crushing is proceeding. Lone Hand. —A further stret h of the reef in he General Chute drive at the low level is now being stripped, preparatory to another breaking down taking place. The contractors should finish the allotted distance in a day or t o, when the face of ibis drive will be within 1(J0 feet of the boundary. The country is a splendid class of sandstone. Quartz of the usual remunerative grade continues to come to haud from the upper workings. Nkw Moaxatairi. Very fair progress is being mad with the extension of the main tunnel. There is no change to report from the winze on the Reuben Parr reef. Trenton. —The footwall 1< ader has been intersected in the drive from the bottom of the Company’s shaft. A little gold has been seen.
