Messrs W. R. & S. R. Wilson Visit Te Aroha.
On Saturday last ,Mr W. R. Wilson, director of the Tp Aroha S. and G. Mining Company, accompanied by his brother, Mr S. R. Wilson, arrived at Te 4.l'oha from Auckland, putting up at the Club Hotel. Mr S. R. Wilson now visits New Zealand for the first time ; whilst Mr W. R. Wilson lias not been in the Colony since March, 188 S, the occasion p* his—to this district—memorable visit, which resulted in hispurchnsing Messrs Firth and Clarke’s interest jn the Waiorongomai battery and mines, the formation of a Company of 200,000 £1 shares, to work the property, and the engagement of Air John Howell, to supervise the erection of tliemagniflcient combination plant at Waiorongomai, completed some few months since. Duiing his absence Mr Wilson has travelled very extensively, having been Home, to the Paris E: hibition, the Continent, etc. The Messrs Wilson left Te Aroha on Monday afternoon for Morrinsville, there to join the train from Auckland (by which Mrs W. R. Wilson was a passenger), and piocecd to llotorua. During their short stay at Te Aroha, they visited both Ihe mines and reduction works at Waiorongomai. In the course of a long mterview with the Messrs Wilson, they both expressed themselves as gpeatly pleased with the manner in which Mr Howell had carried out the erection of the Company’s new works at Waiorongomai, which they assured us was by far the most complete combination plant in the whole of the Australasian Colonies, and reflected the greatest credit on Mr Howell. Air S. R, Wilson, we may here state, was general manager for the Broken Hill Proprietory Company for three years ; i.e., prior to Mr Pat -oil’s appointment. With respect to the intentions of the Te Aroha S. ami G. Mining Co., we may say, they have under consideration a very important project for carrying on work in connection with their property at Waiorongomai on a large scale, which if carried out will necessitate the expenditure of a very large sum of money, and be the most important work ever entered upon on this goldfield. Nothing definite is as yet however settled, but ive hope to bs able to publish further information at an early date with respect thereto. The air compressor and rock drill, recently despatched from Waiorongomai:as fares Thames, instructions having been received from heal quarters to forward same to Broken Hill, will now probably be sent back to Waiorongomai. Pending the completion of arrangements it is to remain at Thames. -.
