Messrs Arthur and Buddle’s Weekly Report. ' Seven sales by auction have been held this week. The whole liavobeen wel attended, and good prices realised, Saturday: At Kingsland, the residence of Mr J. Nelson; his household furniture and effects. The property was not sold; it is still open for sale at a very lo v price, as the owner has gone to Melbourne. Monday: At the mart, pawnbroker's sale of unredeemed pledges, gold and silver watches, jewellery, tools, books, clothing, ete, from Mr Mendelssohn, pawnbroker. Victoria - street. At Remuera, at the residence of A. G. Cover, Esq., Arncy Road, a portion of his household furniture. There was a large and fashionable audience, and for many lots smart competition. Upon the whole prices were very good. Bedroom suites brought from £29 to £49 each; brass bedsteads, £8 to £810s; hall stand, £3los ; bagatelle board, £5 Bs. Tuesday: At the mart, Fiji fruit, ex Wainui: also poultry, prodtuc, fruit, etc, At the residence of Mr J. Carmichael, Mount Eden Road, his household furniture and effects. Friday: New Year’s market for the sa’e of poultry, produce, fruit, groceries, etc., at the mart. The supply of poultry was very small, bat a few fowls, ducks, and geese; no turkey-'. The prices realised were greatly in advance of last week’s, and a large unsatisfied demand. There will be another sale on Tuesday next. The supply of fruit has been smaller than usual at this season; prices have advanced. A entail shipment of oranges and apples canto to hand from Sydney. There has been a large supply of produce of all kinds, and the demand lias been good. Potatoes have notinproved in demand or price. Mr Aibxandkk Aitken's Market Report for the Week ending December 28.—At commencement of week business was very active, and a more than usual amount was put through iff consequence of the holidays intervening. Friday’s sale was of short supply, hut fully up ter demand. On, Monday, at the special sale of poultry, a large hmqbtr were penned and quoted at prices '■ iff favour of vendors. Tm s lay’s sole was characterised by very heavy consignmentsof poultry,fruit.andallkindsof pro-, ducc. Fruit realised’very hi;h prices with unsatisfied demand, and same in ay bo said of the poultry. General farm and dairy produce was slow of saje. Large sale of island fruit onTuesday Was fairly attended, but the. heavy shipment was in excess of demand, consequently only medium prices ruled. Potatoes in shorter supply, but no improvement in value. Onions remain in good demand for shipring. Maize, wheat, oats, etc., in goed demand at previous values. Hams and bacon : There 1b fair demand for prime quality. Cheese: Market glutted with ordinary; factory loaves scarce. Butter : No prime fresh entered. Fair quantity of inferior quitted at satisfactory prices. Eggs plentiful at lower values. Honey: Very slow sale. Pigs not in active demand. Fair number, entered. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons’ Weekly Report.— There are no sales to report for the cavlierpart of the week. At the regular horse sale held yesterday (Friday) there was more spirit shown in the bidding, and better prices obtained for any useful horses brought forward ; and at the cattle sale held on the same day, dairy cows were in demand at full values. Fat cattle obtained an advance of about Is the 1001 b, 16s the 1001 b being the ruling price for best steers. Fat sheep were also better worth 6d each, but lambs were slightly lower, good quality at 8s each. Fat calves scarce, and better worth.
