PROGRESS OF WELLINGTON. Wellington, Dec. 18.

In the course of his response to the toast of the Council's officers afc the civil banquet, Mr J. E. Page, the Town Clerk, quoted some interesting figures illustrative of the process made by Wellington since he took office in the Corporation service 32 years ago. During the period that had elapsed tho population of the city had increased from 15,000 to 29,000, and the rateable value from £160,000 to £308,000. The entire revenue during the twelve years had been £500,000, and the amount spent on street construction was £80,000, on waterworks £210,000, and on reclamation £60,000.
