THE SCHOONER DAISY.

Amongst items of shipping intelligence irom Samoa by the Wainui's mail is tho arrival of the Auckland schooner Daisy at Apia on November l 2sth from a trip to the islands of Manahiki and Penrhyn, north of the Samoan Group. The Daisy, it will bo remembered, left Apia on October 17th under orders horn the British Consul to so to Penrhyn Island and bring up to Samoa the balnnce of the shipwrecked crew of tho lost barque Flying Venus, whoeo disastrous end on a coral reef has already been detailed. However, the steamer Richmond left Atia for Penrhyn a couplo of days after the Daisy, and reached the Coral Island nearly a fortnight before the Daisy, taking the people off and bringing them on to Auckland. When the Daisy reached Penrhyn on November 9th, she found all the bhipwrecked mariners sjone. Having no other business to do she loadod up with 35,000 feet of Oregon lumber, recovered from tho Flying Venus wreck by the trader (Mr Woonton) at Penrhyn, and reached Apia again after a nine-days' passage. The Daisy is at present under charter to JVlessrs McArthur and Co., ol Auckland, ai d is in charge of Captain Sopwith. For some time to come she is to continue her trading cruise round the islands of tho Tonga Group, and to Wallis Islands, i Nine and 8 moa, collecting cargo— copra, e'c. — for her charterers.
