A RICH ASSAY. PROMISING RESULTS FROM TARARU ORE. VALUE, £10,000 PER TON.
News comes from To Aroha of a very promising assay indeed obtained from a piece of quartz from tho Imperial Tieasury goldmininj; claim (Tararu), which has been found to be remarkably rich in both gold and silver. The Te Aioha Gold and Silver Mining Company (Limited) have just furnished Mr R. Hani&, of Te Aioha, with the following assayed tificate: — " Waioiongomai, Dcccmber7bh, 1889. The samples ot jho Impeiial Treasuiy gold ore deposited by Mr Hairis for assay I hereby certify to contain : —
Assayed by James Nai'lijb. The.-o aio tho laigest vofcurns of gold and silver values per ton ever determined fiom crude oie in this oflicc. \\ i\i. Aiumd, Junr., Acting Manager." The stone giving the foregoing extra' ordinal ily rich return was selected from the be?tof a parcel of about 181b, which, together m it h a second paicel of about 941b, was brought to To Aroha from the Imperial Tieasuiy last week. The paic^l was broken ou<) fiom a drive (in about 30 "foot) on tho miin teef; the lecf at this point being about 2tt 6in wide. The Imperial Treasury i-> a licensed holding of 10 acres, situated at Upper Tararu, Thames, and is own^d by Moti's R. lJanis, ,Ja<-. K. Kovvc, Jas. Don, J. Bcw, and W. McClear. Two other small portions of ore, about 101b each, wero also lien tod by the To Aioha Oo!d and .Silver Mining Company. The first parcel yielded 40/ of gold concentrates and 58oz of Mhcr concentrates per ton, equal to a value of £25 per ton. Tho second lot gave a yield equal to afcnut C 2 7s 9d per ton. Thirty pounds of crude ore treated in the berdans yielded 53gr gold bullion, vaiuedati!2lB'pei'ounce. Thes9 results are exceedingly piomising, and further dtve lopmentfe in tho mine will be awaited with great interest.
