BANK OF NEW ZEALAND. London, December 10.

A sensation has been caused here by the publication of a statement made by Mr George Buckley, Ex-President of the Bank of New Zealand, at the last meeting of shareholders held at Auckland. The " Financial Times," commenting on the statement, denounces the deception which it considers is apparent, and says it would be only fair to convene a meeting of shareholders to consider the situation in the event of a panic amongst depositors. It is suggested that the Government of New Zealand should interpose, and the journal considers that otherwise the only hope is that the English directorate will resolve to carry through at any cost, and send a delegate to the colony to report on the actual condition of affairs.
