A MOTHER'S LOVE TRYING TO SAVE HER CHILD.
A sad drowning fatality ooonrred on the gelinore J(ivei\ New South Wales, last Saturday week. Three little children, whose father is a farmer named Hanley, were playing on the bank of the river, when one named Mary fell into, the water. The mother hearing her cries ran down and ulunged in to save the child. Mr A. B. Salmon, who was passing at the time in a vehicle, seeing what was amiss, jumped in and saved the child, | but the mother had sunk, the water being I very deep. He dived again and ajjain, and !.i eventually brought her to the surface, but [ life was extinct! A magisterial inquiry was held, when a verdict was returned " That deceased,, Eliza Hnniey, met her death by drowning while trying to save her child."
