MAROTOTO.
In this district there are a numViPV of prospectors out, and valuable indications l.avn been obtained, which are boing followed up, and may result in tv good Cud. Mr John H. Moow, manager of the Mnrototo G. and S. Mining Co., is losing no time in arranging far the erection of the machinery. The road which is being made is well advanced, the frame and much of the boarding of the machine houso is up, and sawyers have started on the material for the water-race. This latter will be G chains long, giving a perpendicular fall of 106 feet. The motor will bo a 4-feet diameter Pulton wheel now being made by Messrs Price of the Thames. The water will attack the wheel by way of a column of 10-inch pipes, 180 feet long, at *n angle of 45 degrees, thus giving an immense pressure. For a start the plant will consist of two McKay pans and settlers and one berdan,, Mr. Moore pertinently stnting that if this is to be extended the mine will have to pay for it, and not the shareholders. —Herald.
