J Tiir prospects of the Nymph and Mer*. maid, Upper Tararu (which are owned by Te Arolm residents), are most ©ncouraging t A main drive is host being put in, the- distance already driven being <S4 feet. The main reef is six feet wide from wall to wall, and gold can be soon in the stone in every part of the reef, Two teat parcels lately treated, gave the following results : ?6lhs ireafced at Waiorongomui (by beidnnaonly), yielded at tl\o rate of ioza gold per ton ; an I 761b3 treated at the Cambria Battery, Thames (by berdans only), yielded at the rat-i of 4oz of gold per ton also. The County Council have nearly completed a ioal to the Norfolk claim, will continue the road round the foot of the hill to tbe Sylvia and Vulcan claims, and it is expected will further extend the track ritfht up <o the Nymph ami Mermaid. Tiio import mco of the finds, and of giving every reasonable encourage ment to those engaged in developing tho resources of this portion of the »ol ifiel'l, certuiulj warrants the County Council providing a better menus of acooss to these properties than at present exists.
