THE PRINCESS SOPHIA. DISTINGUISHED GATHERING IN BERLIN. THE BRIDE'S TROUSSEAU.
A oala dinner was given at the casble at Beilin on October 14th in honour of Princess Sophia, who loa\es on Saturday. She sat between the Empres es Frederick and Augu&ta Victoria. She was dressed in black and without ornaments, but her gown was cut decollete. Her daughters, especially the Princess Sophia, looked charming in white. On the right of Empress Frederick was the hereditary prince of Saxc-Altenburg, on the Ictt ot the Empress sat Piinco Frederick Leopold. The dinner was one of 160 covers. Alterwards thoro was a giand reception at the palace. ' Princess Sophia's wedding giffs will not be exhibited here, but at A them?. The piincipal present is a magnificent paiure of tuiquoites and diamond. 0 , consisting of stomac!icr,enmngs, necklace and bracelets, which is the joint gift of the Empeior and the Empress, the Queen and the Prince of Wales. This evening's official papers publish the trousseau of the Princess, comprising thirty dresses, mo&tly furnished by Berlin tradesmen. The bridal dress is of white satin embroidered with silver and trimmed with Venetian point laco. Another dress tor dinner is of white crepe de Chine trimmed with embroidery, with a train of gold brocade and a jabot of ostrich feathers. One of the ball dresses is cut Pompadour, with salmon-coloured silk lacings and trimmed with lace. Another is of rosecoloured crepe de Chine, with the bodice cut square. A dinner dress of blue damask is covered down the front with blue silk, all exquisitely embroidered with flowers. A tea gown ot white silk, embroidered in white heather, challenges attention. Hats to accompany cortain dresses are a white one trimmed with gold, another white ono trimmed with velvet) flowers, and a rnaivel in black trimmed with jet.
