SPORTING NEWS.

Auckland, October 26. Tar, race meeting in connection with the Pakuranga Hunt Club held ab F-llerslie on Saturday proved among the most feuccess ful held under the Club's auspices. There was a targe attendance, as may be gathered from the fact that Me&ers Adams and Andrews passed £2,413 through the totalizators. Mr Lovejoy, who rode Neck-or-Nothing in the Hunt Cup, iell in the latter part of the race, but neither horse nor ndor was injured. During the contest Mr Lovejoy had the misfortune to break one of his stirrup leathers. In the Farmer*' Plato a protest was lodged egainst Guy Fawkes, the winner, on the ground* that Mr J. Rae was not a farmer, and got his living by professional racing. The stewards duly investigated the matter, and dismissed the objection, deciding that Mr Rae rented a farm, and the Club had hunted over his ground during the season, which fulfilled the conditions ot the race. Mr fhos. iVlorrin occupied the judge's box, and Mr E. D. Halstead wielded the starter's Hag with satisfaction, while Mr Harry H. Hayr performed the secretarial duties in a manner that left nothing to be desired. Appended are details of the events that did not appear in Saturday's issue :—: — Pakukvmja Hunt Ci.ru Cop of 45sovs. Second horse to receive ssovs from stakes. Distance about 7)h miles. Mr T. The stone wall coming on to the course was taken by Hurricane, Neck-or-Nothing, and Odd Trick in that order, but Hurricane was first over the water-jump in front of the Grand Stand and the stone wall, and he had a commanding lead up the hill, but at the top gave way to Neck-or-Nothing. When the double opposite the Stand was reached, Hurricane was again in the van, closely pressed by Neck-or-Nothing, Odd Trick, and Jim, and at the stone wall Odd Trick nearly came to grief, but his rider made a clever recovery. When the top of the hill was reached for the last time, Hurricane wai attended by Jim and Neck-or-No^hing, and when the latter looked like putting in a claim, horse and rider fell. Hmvicane was first lo land over the stone wall, with Jim a couple of lengths ofF, and although the latter made an effort to get on terms at the hurdle in the straight, it was without avail, Hurricane running home an easy two lengths' winner.
