Unit your Petitioners, resident lionseI holders of the Distiict of Te Aroha, in the Provincial District of Auckland and Colony of New Zealand, are desirous of constituting the said District of Te Aroha (the boondaiies and area of which are herewith described) n P.ot ough, under the provisions of" The Municipal Corporations Act, 1866," and of the savenil Acts amending the same, by the name of the 1 Soroush of Te Arolm T 2. That the Distiict has outgiown the pi osent form of local Government in as Mitich as the Gold Mining Indn*try and Population are increasing, and demand immediate attention in the shape of a water supply, combined with n propc fiystemof drainage so as to ensure proper sanitation and n means of extinguishing fit en, , 3. That such District comprises one continuous area containing not more than nine square ipiles, and not having within it any two points more than uix miles distant from each other. 4.
