The Mayor nnd Councillors have dcchugd Monday, 11th November, ti public holiday, instead of Saturday, 9th November, in accordance with a petition presented and signed by the tradespeople of the Thames. On that day willjbe held the first United Band of Hope and Temperance Demonstration, which is expected to be a monster turn out. Brass Bands have been engaged, also the Parawai Gardens, where sports will be held, also temparance meetings and other attractions ; for instance the Auckland Juvenile Tent of Eeehabites are corning to play a football match. There will b« a grand monster procession of nil Ihe Bands of Ilopa, headed bylhe Brass Band, which Band will ourry out a p'ogia'iune of selections during the day. Tho procession will stari about 10.30. a.m. On Thursday, 24Ji inst., a grand united Band of Hope Demonstration Concert is to be held in tho Oddfellows Hall, when a splendid programme will be provided by the ben talent in the Bunds of Hope, in* eluding two temperance 'dramas.' In the evdtiMii? of t'le 11th November, a monster Blue Jiibbon meeting will beheld in the Sulwition Army barracks, the splendid Choir »md band of the Wesleyan Church will be present. Sir Win, Fox and Vrll. J. Ross find others have been invited from Auckland, to deliver addresses. Admission wil! be free.
