Co. : Smelting operat : ons continue to progress raost satisfaotoi.'ly at the Company's Reduction Works, under the supervision of Mr Poage, the Company's Assayer, duiing r.he temporary absence of Mr Howll (on a trip to the Hot Lakes, Rotorua;, who is expected back on Thiusday. The quantity of ore and concentrates put through daily vaiies from 20 to 28 ton 3. The ore now being smelted consists of a mixture oF ' matted ' concpntrntes and silioious oro from Karaugahake, Maro'oto, etc. ; in th« pioporlions of three Gfths concentrates to two fifths silicious ore. The run for the twenty four hours ending yesterday produced 8 tons of buMioii.ind there is now on hand altogether about 80 tons of bullion, piled up in stacks of ]Q 0 bars I cell. The assiiy of the slag shows that j foliy 90 per cent of the precious melols ' (i.e. gold, silver, and copper;, are being s..Viml by the furnace. S'lieltiuq; will probably continue for another week or ten days. A part-el of about twenty ' tons of ore from the Kenil worth mine, Kiirangaliake, consigned by Mr J. H, Moore, is expected to arrive daily. 20 lead of stumpers are at work reducing New Find ore. Feigupon Syndicate : All four connects are in pi ogress on this Company's piopnty. The winze on the main leef (Grace and party) is now down 451 i. ; sinking all the time it is believed on oie that is payable. The ri ; c ( Walsii tt'id party) is now up 30 feet on a branch of the Premier No. 2 reef. Driving on the eastern Premier crosscut (Kirker and parly; ie mow in a distance of oOft.. and the contractors h»ve cut a nice reef 7 feet in thickness, showing gold occasionally. The distance the contractors have to go is 50 feet to complete their present contract. The following tenders were received for duvini; 50 feet on the Premier section : — Jas. Walsh, per foot, £1 19s ; T. Kii-Ker, £1 17s Cd ; Grneeaiui party, XI 15s ; R. Burke, £1 15s ; T. Scott, £1 12s 6d ; J. McLeod (accepted), £1 7s 6d. The contractor has commenced work, driving from the eastern side of the outcrop towards the win'se, which it is expected will be intersected about 60 f< et below the surface* The branch tramway (connecting with the County tram), is being re-ballasted ami put in good working order. The water-race, on which a good many slips had occurred, has also been repaired, and the water was turned on yesterday Mr Wilson, the Company's Assayer, is busily engaged assaying daily and putting through small parcels. j
