POETRY. THE DAWN OF TRUTH.

"New dreams are trembling in the th oes of birth, And God inspires them all." E. H. Gulliver.

••New dreams are trembling" through the migh jr brain < f God's evangels, who, with grief and pain, Have battled long 'gainst Treason's hated brood For love of right— for God— and brotherhood. And, lo! the new life dawns; the clouds are bright As Fraud flees shrieking on the wings of night. 'Tis ours to seek the sunlight, as it creeps O cr ruined dungeons and old lossiled keeps Of dead men's thoughts, to haply nnd therein Why beauty lingers o'er an age of sin. But as we gather treasures old or new. Sland we to-day in armour tor the true. The shadows break around us. let us stand As sentinels of God, with sword in hand, And hew down traud and mammon, hate and greed, And thruit aside foul bigotry and creed And devil worship, hell, and darksome night. And let in love- for God is Love and Light.

Ah ! now on roseate wings the dawn of truth Sweeps from the portals of eternal ruth: Earthward it comes with songs, so let us meet This messenger ot God with worship sweet. And iobe her royally, for she shall reign His minister of grace in each fair fane. And in his temples we will bend the soul, Not knee alone, and own God's tond control; And worship Him who sends His glorious ray To gild the morning of eternal day. O. dawn of truth ! Let earth with paeans ring For thou shalt rule, immortal truth, as king.

W. R. Wills.
