Cr tieany reported that the voting at Oxford; to doci le if n further sum of £1,000 for the road to Okoroir ( e should be borrowed, hud resulted in the proposal being, negatived, a majority of three-fifths being required to <*airy it. Mr Robert Gibbons applied for permisßion to di*pone of a portion of the flax he hud leaded from the Council, between the Matnmnta boundary and the \\%irere fallB,on the Waihou river.- — Ttwas resolved to grant the permission a^ked for subject to conditions. Mr K. Y. Cox, of Shaftesbury, wrote, Chllinsruttontion to the impassable state of certain portion* of tke road from Shaftesbnrv to Wairakau, and offered if the Council would vote £20 to supplement it with £10 for improvement of said road ; and also offered to give £1 for every £2 voted by Council for improving thai por* tion of the main road from Shaftsbury corner that ran through his land.' — Resolve:!, That £20 be voted by Council for the first namert wojk aa requetted, md £14 with respect to thu second application, on the termi proposed by Mr Cox. Mr K. F. Walker's l.tnd. Mr R. B, B. Willis, of Waihou, wrote, calling attention to the had state of the road from the Mntnmatn boundary for n couple of miles towards Mcrri-h Murray Bmthers. The bridge over the outfall drain had given way, and for tho past tyro | month* DHrtß.of the road had been covered I with water, only the bridge being visible. The Engireer for To Aroha Riding was instructed to get the necessary repairs effected. It was resolved to allocate for ex* penditure the rateß derived from Nntire lands within the County as follows : — Te Aroh», L 6 10a 7d, upon the road between the Gordon Settlement and the Waiharakeke Block ; Waitoa, L 26 7a 6d, on the roarl from Te llimi to boundary of Ohi^amuri County ? Patetere, L6O, L*2o on the Carabridge-Taurangft rond, between Liohfield and Takahue; Matatnata, L19 13s Id, on the Stanley road, in the l Vailmrakeke Block, or the immediate neiirhhonihood thereof. It was decided to hand the Waitoa portion to the Waitoa Road Board, who will stipple merit it with a further amount. — Resolv^l on th» motion of tho Chairman, that several settlers who^e land fronts the Thames- WaiUiito road, and who have erected their fences <m the road line, be written to requesting them to remove the fences back to their proper position. — Resolved that Government be asked to grant Council a (\vq aero section near To Arohi for gravel pit purposes. main county roads. It was ultimately ' resolved to invite tenders for maintaining the main rond within Taotaoroa Riding for one year. Mi* F. Pavitt, Engineer for Te Arolm Riding, was authorised to have tlie following works carried nut: Repairs to ♦ !i,5 bridge near Mr Gifford's -epairs near Yjfaihekan, and also to Waitoa bridge, .draining near Te Kahia, and on the main road to W niton near W, Thompson's htnd • the Clerk to write and request Government to place a cidveit under the railway line, to carry off the water from tha drain near Thompson's land, Cr Murphy stated that all expectations of Tb Arolm bein^ constituted, a Boiough hud bean abandoned, nad gave notice that he should move at next meeting that the main road from the Waiorontjomai battery toTcAroha Railway station be constituted a* county load. A number of small accounts weie passed for paymont.
