The following reply has been receive'] From Government, acknowledging receipt of the counter petition to His Excellency the Governor, signed by over eighty Waiorongomai ami (^uarbjvillo resident householders, praying that all that portion of the area proposed to be included in a Borough, to be called the Borough- of Te A rob a, south of Slohey Creek, bG not included in the event of a'-Borough. being constituted : —

S'r. — I have the- honour to acknowledge the l eceipt of your' letter o.f thrc 19th Sept., enlosing a counter petition to the petition ioi the constitution of Te Aroha Borough. In reply I am directed by the- Minister, acting' for tho Colonial Secretary, to inform you that as the ratable property in the proponed Borough is not sufficient to produce tho minimum annual income required by "subsection:* 2, 6f Section 24, of tho Municipal Corporations.
