The entries for the Auckland Racing Club Spring Meeting which closed last night are satisfactory, both in point of members and quality, but the Auckland Cup nominations are not so good a« might have been wished. A notable absentee from the list is Major George's Fiosole. Mr W. Gannon, the well-known sportsman, has retired from the turf, and his horses have been sold by auction. Merriment was purchased- by Mr Greenaway, of New Zealand, for 800 guineas The Axistralian Peer was sold for 600 guineas. The following were purchased by the Hon. Mr Eales :— Melos, 1,200 guineas ; Wycombe, 700 guineas; and Arsenal, 500 guineas.
The following foalings are announced from Sylvia Park : — L'Orient, chestnut colt to Leolinus ; Sister Agnes, brown colt to Nordenfeldt ; Linda, chestnut colt to St. Leger ; Woodnymph, bay colt to Loolinus ; Lady Mersey, chestnut tilly to St. Leger ; Amazon, chestnut filly to L-3olinus.
