LATEST FROM AUCKLAND. THE N. Z. FROZEN MEAT AND STORAGE COMPANY.
SALE OF THE MANURE WORKS AUCKLAND, Last Night. The Drug Company have completed the purchase of the Acid and Manure Works, near Otahuhu, from the New Zealand Frozen Meat and Storage Company j and intend to carry on the business.
BOARD OF EDUCATION. At the Board of Education meeting to-day a list of the amounts required for bnilding purposes was laid before the Board, and included the following : Waitoa Valley, £180; Karan*ahake, £200 ; enlargements ; Paeroa, £200 for teacher's dwelling.
: WRECK OF THE UNION STEAMER KORANUI. NELSON, Last Night. Considerable excitement has been caused by the news that the steamer Koranui, of the Union Steamship Company's line, had foundered near French I Pass at an early hour this morning. Captain Hall gtates he left N?laou at 10 I o'clock last night. The weather was thick with drizzling rain. He slowed the engines and occasionally stopped them, and glimrses of land was got now and then. About 2 a.m. the steamer styuolc lightly on a rock, supposed to be the outer edge of the " Beef Barrels." She commenced to make water and after being there over an hour began to settle down. There was a heavy sea at the time running. The passengers and crew escaped in boats, and were shortly afterwards picked up by the Rotorua» and brought to Nolson. The freight included £21,000 of gold shipped by the Bank New Zealand, and folly insured. Dunbdih, Last Night, The Koranui w«s valued at 1 £10,000, j and insured for £2000 in the Colonial office; the balance beinqr underwritten by the Union Steamship Company,
