Concert and Dance at Waihou. [From our own Correspondent.]
A cowckut, dance, and unpper ( j>,roc*fl<j« in aiil of theWaihon School funds) was hel.l in the Public Hall, Wftihon, on lust Tuesday. By special conveyances a Urge number went from Te Aroha, whi.st all the surroandiner districts were w(»ll represented, the Hall being comfortably filled. Rev F. G. Evans presided. The following programme w«i gone through in a manner that gavf universal satisfaction : Song, The Warrior Bold, Mr F. Pavitt ; «ong, Rocked in the Cradle of tho Deep, Miss Pnvitt ; soncr (o.mnc), Policeman Moriarty; Master H. \ Tonge ; song, Pretty Whito Lilys, Miss Cocks ; recitation. Miss Rowo ; song i (comic), O'Grady, Mr G. Dovey, Juhr, ; sonsr, Miss H. Cocks ; song, My Old Wife, Mr R. B. B. Willis (encor«», I'm a Gent, I'm a G<*nt) ; duet, Mr and Miss Cocks ; pong (comic in character), Tho Dado, Mr G. Dcvey .Tnnr. ; song, Mavoarneen, Miss E. Wainw right (encore, Comincf throngh the Rye) ; dnet, Lnrl>onrd Watch, Misa E. Wainwright and Mr R. B. B. Willis. All the gingers acquitted thetmelres well, an encore in nearly every in§tance being demanded. The accompaniments were efficiently played by Misses Pavitt, Wainwrighr, Cocks, and Mrs Menaie. Miss Rowes recitation was delivered in that young ladieawell known effectire style. After the concert the Hall w»f»poedily clearch^ for dancing, which was kept up with spirit for several hour*, Master Lavery proving himself an efficient M.C The supp«r reflected credit on those who had tho providing of same ; in fact the whole affair passed off most successfully, all appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves, and Messrs T. Rowe and R. Parr, who were the chief promoters, have every reason to be well pleased with the mnnner in which it was patronised. Mpsdnmes Gabolinscy and J. Parr, and Miss Parr were most attentive in seeing the wants of the guests were arrendol to at supper time. The Hall was nicely decorated far the occasion.
