At the liorao sale on Frid ly heavy draught horse s were in impioved demand ; prices ranged lioin £13 to £25 : other desci iptions of hoi be stock at kite values. On Tuesday hides and skins were pitched in full numbers ; pi ices were well sustained, particularly lor wool and skins. Ox hides ranged from 3|d to 4£d ; cow hide:., ?d to 2sd ; calfskins. 4d to 4}d the Ib. Skins were in brisk imjutry, and ranged irom 4s to 6s Id each ; lambs' skins, 9d and lOd each ; tallow. 15s 6d to 17s 6d Iho cwt ; oil, 2s 5d the gallon. At the regular monthly sale at Waiuku, he'd on Saturday last, cattle were in larger numbers than usual, and prices were not equal to those obtained at the previous month's market. Household furniture and general farm produce were also disposed of. At Remuera, on Thursda,\, the dairy cows yarded were of inditlerent nuahtv. Prices ranged from -C2 to £3 10s each the 1031b. Thiee and a half ye«r steers advertised, brought an average of £3 12s 6d. Fat calves, short of requirements, sold freely. Fat cattle, in less than usual number, were better worth, nnd firm at last week's quotations. 16b to 18s the 1001b. Fat slierp. in short supply, also advanced about Is each. Fat lambs .sentwcie of variable quality, and ranged from 5s to 14s 6d each. Pigs, in moderate number, kept their values. Mkssus Arthur and Bundle's Wkkkly Kj pout. — Business generally has beon very quiet this week. Six sales by auction have been held since our last week's report. The whole of tlnm ha\cbeen at the mart. Saturday : The intercstof a fouith of a share in the Try Fluke claim, Mercury Bay, was sold by order of the Sheriff. There was smart competition. It icaliscd £60. Monday and Thursday " Drapery, clothing, etc. But little business done. Wednesday: Household furniture and effects. Bidding was dull ; but few present; not much changed hands. Tuesday and Friday: Poultry, produco, iruit, groceries, etc. In the early rtoC ihe week there was very httlo demand for any kind; by Friday the stock on hand had become vciy heavy, -\\ hen the demand for most kinds w as good, and a laigc business was done at vciy "-atisfactory price i. A lower price had to be taken ior seed potatoes : the demand will soon be over. Good sound table, regular samples, sell well. C'airots were not up to the demand. The supply of fresh butter and eggs was not equal to the demand. Good cheese is wanted. Well got-up local cured bacon and hams move oil" freely. Apples, if sound, bring a very high price; many to hand have been kept too long, they had become shrivelled or partly lotten; not a grcnt many coming to hand. Lemons continue at a low price ; most ot those to hand have been small. Poultry : Fowls were in good demand ; a fair number were entered; ullnough none brought a very high price, there being no fligfc-class cock birds ; the average pi ice was good. Turkeys brought a good price. Ducks !«old high. No geese entered. There was an inquiry tor pea fowls and Guinea fowls. Bacon and hams have been in shorter supply : good lots arc inquired for. Cheese: The market is very bare, and that to himd has fetched high prices. Honey is still slow of sale. In tho fruit department the supplies ha\e been shorter ; 63 cases ot local apples sold at prices above those of last week. Oranges and lemons in better supplj . Potatoes have been in good demand .it former values, but stocks arp now narticulaily light. Onions have been all cleared out at late values. Vegetables generally in good supply. at satisfactory prices. Grain has come forward in small quantities. ; values unchanged, excepting maize, which is somewhat lirtner. Fresh butter has come to hand in increased rr'antity ; values unchanged. Eggs : Large supply, at previous values. Poultry : The supply was slightly below the average. Prices were higher for good birds. Pigs entered in large numbers. Choice lots sold at high prices. A large number of canaries and other cage birds were sold at prices in favour of vendors.
